My
occupation is artistic ceramics, or – to be more precise -
ceramic painting. I am interested in problems related to
painting rather than sculpture, and mostly in ceramics. What
I do can be divided into a few areas, one of them being
bottles. They come the closest to the very idea of ceramics.
Due to their size, they are not used for purely practical
purposes but mostly for decoration.
As regards painting, I make compositions of chamotte plates,
small mosaic pieces or boxes into which I pour the content
loose or, if the composition is to be hung on the wall, I
glue, tie it and hang it on the wall.
Porcelain is the finest material, very difficult to work in,
but also rewarding and enjoyable to look at. Unlike my
colourful compositions, porcelain makes me combine and
economise on means of expression. I allow porcelain to speak
for itself. I try to show its lightness, transparency,
delicacy.
In my quests, I also remember about interiors. It is for
them that furniture screens, cabinets and pateras – in which
tiles, openwork or mosaics are used as decorative features -
are made in my husband’s studio. All the compositions are
made only from old wood and using antique joinery
techniques.
‘Szukam ciszy, patrzę w wodę’ (I am looking for tranquility,
looking into the water) is the title of an exhibition
originating in my neighbourhood, my house amid fields, the
splashing of water in ponds, the croaking of frogs, a new
gift from nature every day – in a new light, a new colour of
the sky and land.
You are most welcome to visit the exhibition. Perhaps part
of my nature will become yours…
